I have been watching a fantasy movie about kings and queens who are in this ongoing battle about who is the rightful king of the seven realms. The more I watch the movie the more I believe that they have taken Christian principles to write a fiction film. Now stay with me as I talk about this a little bit more.
Today, I want to explore how elements from fantasy movies can connect to biblical truths, particularly in the context of the power of blood and its significance in Christian belief. Let’s delve into this intriguing topic together
Have you ever noticed how certain themes in fantasy movies sometimes echo biblical truths? It’s fascinating how even in the realm of fiction, we can find reflections of deeper spiritual realities. Let’s explore the concept of the power of blood as seen in both fantasy narratives and in the Bible.
In a recent episode of the fantasy film I am watching one of the kings wielded extraordinary power by using his blood in rituals. In the movie he used hos own blood amd while worshiping a false deity, he bece powerful. His enemies began to fall one by one. It made me reflect on the Christian hymn that says, “There is power, power, wonder-working power in the blood of the Lamb.” This song captures a profound biblical truth—that the blood of Jesus Christ holds unparalleled power for believers.
In Revelation 12:11 (NIV), it says, “They triumphed over him [the accuser] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” This verse underscores the victory won through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. His blood symbolizes redemption, forgiveness, and the defeat of sin and death.
In the Old Testament, blood was central to the sacrificial system ordained by God to atone for sin. Leviticus 17:11 (NIV) explains, “For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.” The shedding of blood represented the seriousness of sin and the need for a pure sacrifice to restore relationship with God.
Examples from Scripture
1. Passover Lamb (Exodus 12:13)
During the Passover in Egypt, the Israelites were instructed to mark their doorposts with the blood of a lamb. This act of faith protected them from the plague of death, foreshadowing Jesus as the ultimate Passover Lamb whose blood saves us from eternal separation from God.
2. Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16:15-16)
On the Day of Atonement, the high priest would enter the Most Holy Place with the blood of sacrificial animals to make atonement for the sins of the people. This ritual pointed forward to Jesus Christ, our eternal High Priest, who entered once for all into the heavenly sanctuary with His own blood to obtain eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12).
3. Forgiveness of Sins (Ephesians 1:7)
Ephesians 1:7 (NIV) reminds us, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, His blood was poured out as a ransom for many, securing forgiveness and reconciliation with God for all who believe.
As Christians, the power in the blood of Jesus Christ is foundational to our faith. It signifies not only our forgiveness and redemption but also our victory over sin and the assurance of eternal life. When we sing about the power in the blood, we are proclaiming the transformative work of Christ’s sacrifice and our dependence on His grace.
While fantasy movies often depict supernatural powers tied to blood in fictional contexts, they inadvertently echo spiritual truths that resonate with biblical teachings. As viewers, we can discern these echoes and use them as opportunities to share the gospel message with others.
Whether in fantasy movies or in the pages of Scripture, the concept of power in the blood points us to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His blood cleanses us from all sin, reconciles us to God, and empowers us to live victorious lives. Let’s embrace the truth that there is indeed power—wonder-working power—in the blood of the Lamb. There IS power in our Kings bloods!!
As you go about your day, reflect on the depth of God’s love demonstrated through the shedding of Jesus’ blood for you. May it strengthen your faith, inspire your worship, and compel you to share the good news of salvation with others. Let the power in the blood of Jesus Christ be your anchor and your hope, now and forevermore.
Remember, in Christ, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace (Ephesians 1:7, NIV). Blessings to you as you continue to journey in faith, trusting in the power of the blood that sets us free!
Note:
The hymn “There Is Power in the Blood” was written by Lewis E. Jones in 1899. Here are the lyrics:
Would you be free from your burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Refrain:
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder-working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.
Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Refrain
Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow;
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Refrain
Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Refrain
These lyrics celebrate the cleansing and redeeming power found in the blood of Jesus Christ, as described in Scripture (e.g., Ephesians 1:7, Revelation 1:5).
