In the quiet of our homes, a persistent beeping from a smoke detector can be a nagging reminder of something important. Similarly, the signs of Christ’s imminent return are evident, and the question echoes: Are we ignoring the beep, or are we taking action?
Christ, during His earthly ministry, foretold His return. Today, we witness the unfolding of prophecies – wars, natural disasters, and moral decay. The scripture and the unfolding prophecies serve as an urgent reminder that His return is not a distant concept but a reality drawing near.
Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come… So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Jesus urges us to be vigilant, prepared for His return at any moment.
The beeping sound of the smoke detector demands a response. Similarly, the signs of Christ’s return call us to action. We may not have an audible “Christ is coming” beeping sound but if you are reading the bible daily you can hear it in your spirit. Are we heedless, dismissing the urgency, or are we taking steps to align our lives with His teachings?
God keeps his promises, and he has promised us that Christ will return so HE WILL RETURN. 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Our responsibility is not only personal readiness but also spreading the urgency of salvation to others.
Just as a responsible homeowner would address a beeping detector, we, as followers of Christ, must spread the Good News. The urgency lies not only in personal salvation but also in ensuring others have the opportunity to be saved.
Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Christ’s parting words emphasize our duty to spread His teachings and bring others into the fold.
Ignoring a beeping smoke detector could have serious consequences. Similarly, neglecting the signs of Christ’s return and our responsibility to share the Gospel can lead to spiritual consequences. Let us be a people who heed the beep and take action.
Romans 10:14-15): “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Our action is the key to unlocking the opportunity for others to believe.
The beeping smoke detector is a small yet vital reminder of a potential danger. Likewise, the signs of Christ’s return are indicators of a significant reality. Let us not dismiss the urgency but embrace our responsibility to spread the Gospel, ensuring that others, too, are prepared for the glorious return of our Lord. May our lives and actions echo the truth that Christ is coming soon, and in our readiness, may we lead others to the hope found in Him.
