The Best Decision You Will Ever Make

In each person’s life, there exists a singular thread that, when woven in, transforms the entire fabric—the decision to trust Jesus as your Savior. This isn’t merely a choice; it’s a seismic shift, an eternal embrace that alters the course of your existence. Let’s delve into the why, how, and next steps of making the greatest decision of your life.

The foundation of why trusting Jesus is paramount lies in acknowledging the fractured relationship between humanity and God. Romans 3:23 succinctly declares, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Sin ruptures our connection with God, creating a chasm only bridged by the redemptive work of Christ.

Understanding the consequences of sin is pivotal. Romans 6:23 elucidates, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Sin leads to spiritual death, separation from God. Jesus, through His sacrifice, offers the gift of eternal life—a reprieve from the consequence of sin.

The crux of the “why” is rooted in God’s unfathomable love. John 3:16 encapsulates this truth: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Trusting Jesus is responding to the divine invitation of love, a love that surpasses all understanding.

The journey begins with recognizing your need for a Savior. Matthew 5:3 states, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Acknowledge your spiritual poverty, realizing that without Christ, there’s a void only He can fill.

Repentance is pivotal—a turning away from sin and a turning toward God. Acts 3:19 urges, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” It’s a transformative decision to align your life with God’s will.

Ephesians 2:8-9 emphasizes, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Salvation is a gift received through faith. Trusting Jesus involves believing in His redemptive work, acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9 articulates a critical step: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Confession is an outward proclamation of an inward reality—Jesus is Lord.

Once a person takes the steps above and has ask Jesus to become their Saviour then there are some next steps they should take:

Baptism symbolizes the death and resurrection of Christ and the believer’s identification with Him. Romans 6:4 explains, “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” It’s a public declaration of your commitment to follow Jesus.

Hebrews 10:24-25 underscores the significance of fellowship and discipleship: “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Engage in a community of believers, fostering spiritual growth and mutual encouragement.

Maintain a vibrant prayer life. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Cultivate a relationship with God through prayer, seeking His guidance and finding solace in His presence.

The mandate to share your newfound faith echoes in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Your journey with Christ is meant to be shared,

In my life I have had to make many decisions, who to marry, how to raise my kids, which job to take or turn down, which church to attend, but the best decision I have ever made was ask Jesus to come into my heart.  I hope if you have not made this decision for yourself that you will do it today.
