Ephesians 5:15-16, the apostle Paul encourages us with these words: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil.”
This verse reminds us that each day is a precious gift from God, and it’s our responsibility to use it wisely. Here are a few things we should aim to accomplish every day to honor God and make the most of our time:
1. Prayer: Start your day with prayer, seeking God’s guidance and wisdom for the hours ahead. Share your joys, concerns, and desires with Him, and ask for His strength to face whatever challenges may arise.
2. Scripture Reading: Spend time in God’s Word daily. Reading and meditating on Scripture allows God to speak to us, providing guidance, comfort, and conviction as needed.
3. Acts of Love: Show love and kindness to others. Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39). Look for opportunities to help, encourage, and bless those around you.
4. Gratitude: Cultivate a heart of gratitude. Take time each day to thank God for His blessings, both big and small. Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to what we’ve been given.
5. Self-Examination: Reflect on your actions and attitudes. Are you living in accordance with God’s will? If not, seek His forgiveness and guidance for improvement.
6. Planning and Prioritizing: Plan your day, setting clear priorities. This prevents time wastage and helps you focus on tasks that truly matter.
7. Rest: Remember the importance of rest. God created rest for our well-being (Genesis 2:2-3). Don’t overburden yourself; find time to rejuvenate physically, mentally, and spiritually.
8. Praise and Worship: Lift your heart in worship to God. Whether through song, prayer, or meditation, acknowledge His greatness and sovereignty over your life.
Remember that making the most of each day isn’t about achieving perfection but striving to live in alignment with God’s purpose and love. Each day is a fresh opportunity to grow in faith and love, glorifying our Lord in all we do.
There is a song by Bon Jovi called It’s my Life. I love a couple of the lyrics if you apply them as if they were written as a Christian.
And I ain’t gonna be just a face in the crowd You’re gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud
It’s my life It’s now or never But I ain’t gonna live forever I just want to live while I’m alive
God gave us the instructions on how to life our life to it’s fullest in His word. We are not going to live forever and we do not know what day will be our last day. With that said, if you attempt to accomplish these 8 things each day you are closer to accomplishing the purpose God has for you.
Ask God to help you seize each day with gratitude and wisdom, to guide our steps and fill our hearts with love for Him and others. May we glorify Him in all we do, making the most of every opportunity.
Live each day with purpose and faith, knowing that God walks with you every step of the way. Make the most of this day, for it is a gift from our gracious Creator.
